Understanding How to Specify The Hardware:
Our lid stays are rated with a torque calculation. You can calculate your required torque rating with the equation above:
- Door Weight (lbs) x Door Height ÷ 2 = Torque Rating
The SDS-20/WHT supports the following torque ratings
- 1 Piece = 30.3 ~ 43.4 lbs•in
- 1 Pair (2 pcs) = 60.7 ~86.8 lbs•in

My doors are 3' x 2' particle board that's 3/4" thick, and I could not for the life of me get the smooth, slow stop I see everyone else getting in their reviews and videos.
The instructions for these things are almost laughably complicated, it's almost as if you have to take an engineering class, then a math class, then an anger management class to understand them.
In the end mine did what I wanted them to do, which was stay in the open position and then not slam shut. It does fall quickly however. Perhaps with two hinges on each door it would be slow and smooth, but there's no way I'm paying $60 a door for that.
Other than abysmal directions and a very un-intuitive design, they're very well made and other people seem to be able to get them to work just fine.

Step 1 - Identify the which type of hinge your chest is built with. The instructions don't tell you this, but the point is to determine where the pivot of the hinge is. You'll need to measure from that point to place your new hinge. Step 2 - You need to determine the correct placement of the anchor for the arm. Tip: Attach the anchor to the arm, then put the hinge on the mount. The correct placement with be "Measurement A" from the pivot existing hinge up the door. This should allow for full extension of the arm at a 90 degree angle from your hinge mount. Once you determine where this is and it makes sense. Place your first screw, then remove the arm from the anchor and add the second. Step 3 - Attach the pivot arm back to the anchor and hinge mount and put final screw in place.
