Kitchen Counter Extension

So my wife and I recently bought a house and quickly found out that our kitchen counter is just not big enough once you add a coffee maker, toaster and knife block. I would love to build a small, movable addition to the kitchen countertop space. The extension would serve mainly as a stand for the coffee maker/toaster and maybe trash can concealer or possibly coffee storage or just extra cabinet space. I’ve been trying to figure out how to do this without making it stick out like a sore thumb since the counter is granite. Please see attached picture. The stand would need to sit where the trash can is sitting in the picture.
