Another great holiday gift for your wine-o friends. 🙂 While it is a simple design it looks great on a wall and could be customized with stain or switching up the wood type for a more modern look! How this hung/mounted on the wall?
I was wondering the same thing?
I used two 2-1/2″ wood screws straight through it and into a stud or drywall anchor. You can cover them up with wood plugs if you are worried about seeing them.
You could put a third 2×4 parallel to the ground as a place to hold glasses.

I just built one today as a last minute gift for my girlfriend. It’s made with 4/4 Peruvian Walnut and finished with one coat of Minwax Antique Oil.
I let our 5 year old son pick out the wood and I did all of the work.

I have some feedback here for anyone else wanting to use 4/4 hardwood. For anyone that doesn’t understand 4/4, it’s how wood is measured when it’s rough sawn and is 1″ thick. My final thickness was 15/16″ after jointing and planing each face.
The 1 3/8 hole is too large for boards this thin. The bottles sit at too much of an angle to be as visually appealing.
I tried a few different sizes and 1 1/4 for the forstner bit worked very well with 4/4 lumber.
I used a 1/4″ radius round over on all edges including the inside of the holes for the bottles to sit.

I tried every 750ml wine bottle I could find and they all fit, although I’m sure there are some that may not work out.I used a 1/4″ radius round over on all edges including the inside of the holes for the bottles to sit.
I just finished one of these with some 1×6 red oak I had left over from a prior project. I’m kicking myself for not checking the hole sizes with the smaller boards – I should have checked the comments section first! Oh well, I still have enough scrap to give it another try. I also like the look the 1/4″ round over gives it. You’ve made a beautiful piece.
