Plan License / Personal Use Policy

When you purchase or download a free plan from Rogue Engineer LLC, you receive a personal-use license to the plan PDF and any associated digital files. This page describes what that license allows and what it does not.
What you can do
Your purchase grants one (1) non-transferable license per plan, per purchase, which permits you to:
- ✅ Download the plan PDF for your own personal use
- ✅ Print the plan PDF for use during your own build
- ✅ Build the project in your own home, shop, or yard
- ✅ Build the project as a one-off gift for a friend or family member
- ✅ Share photos of your finished build on your own social media or blog (we love seeing them — tag us @rogue_engineer)
- ✅ Reference the plan when discussing your build in a public post or video, as long as you don’t republish the plan itself
What you cannot do
You may not, without our express written permission:
- ❌ Resell, redistribute, or share the plan PDF, the original files, or any derivative copies — including on Etsy, Pinterest, Amazon, Gumroad, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or any other platform
- ❌ Build copies of the project to sell at scale — small-batch craft fair sales of a hand-built one-off are fine; mass-production runs and reselling as a “Rogue Engineer plan-based product” are not
- ❌ Claim authorship of the plan, the design, the project’s photography, or any portion of our content
- ❌ Modify the plan and re-distribute the modified version as your own
- ❌ Strip our copyright notices, watermarks, or branding from the plan
- ❌ Use the plan or its imagery in your own products, courses, or content sold for money
- ❌ Use the plan as part of a paid woodworking class, course, or training program without a separate commercial license from us
Commercial licensing
If you’d like to use a plan for commercial purposes — production runs, paid classes, included in a curriculum, etc. — contact us at [email protected] to discuss a commercial license. We’re often happy to work something out.
Reporting theft
If you see our plans being resold or redistributed without permission — on Etsy, Pinterest, Amazon, or anywhere else — please report it to [email protected]. Loyal customers reporting theft is genuinely the fastest way for us to find and stop resellers, and we appreciate every tip.
Enforcement
Plan PDFs may be watermarked with the original purchaser’s name, email address, and order number on every page. If a watermarked plan appears for sale or distribution by someone other than the original purchaser, we will:
- Issue DMCA takedown notices to the hosting platform
- Revoke the original purchaser’s access to the plan
- Ban the original purchaser’s account and email from future purchases
- Pursue further legal action if warranted
Unauthorized distribution of our plans is copyright infringement under U.S. law. We take this seriously.
Free plans
Some plans on this site are offered free of charge. The same license terms apply to free plans as to paid plans — they are licensed for personal use only and may not be resold or redistributed.
Changes
We may update this License from time to time. Plans purchased under a previous version of this License remain subject to the terms in effect at the time of purchase, except where law requires otherwise. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version.
