Replacing a Front Door (or two!)

When we bought this house we knew something had to be done with the front doors. There are two insulated doors the true front door and then the one leading into the house from the entryway, which was the original front door. The entryway was an add on by the previous owner and has no HVAC.

We decided to replace the solid green steel entry door with a 15 Lite Primed White Majestic Steel Exterior Door to allow more light into the living room much like the front door. For the new, true, front door we wanted to make a statement with a solid wood door but have a little more privacy so we chose the Craftsman 9 Lite Stained Mahogany Wood Prehung Front Door with the Schlage Sense smart deadbolt and entry handle. We love how it turned out. For all the details of the installation make sure to head over to our post on The Home Depot blog.

Disclosure: We were compensated and the doors were provided by The Home Depot in exchange for my post on their blog. However, I wouldn’t have changed a thing had I had to pay for them out of pocket.

It’s amazing how much the new doors have improved both the space, the light and the esthetics of the house. Great job! I am fast becoming a loyal watcher, LaDena

Are the heated floors working out? What do they do in regards to the monthly bill? And how/where/when do you turn them on? Were they worth the investment? Sorry…just something I’m entertaining doing myself.
Thanks! ( love the true front door!)

    • We haven’t actually turned them on yet. There is a thermostat that controls the temp of the floor. Sorry I don’t have more info.

  • I love that Craftsman 9 Lite! We’re hoping to replace our front door this fall, but our home is a mobile home so it’s not a standard sized door. I don’t want to replace it with another door made for mobiles though because no joke, I’m pretty sure they’re insulated with styrofoam. I’ve been researching the crap out of how to widen the opening so we can use a better insulated door and hopefully get a screen door, too.
