So my son Brayden is now pretty comfortable with using the bathroom all by himself. So much so that he doesn’t want us in the room when he does. Well with the stool that we have it was just too tall and he was dousing the whole bathroom with, well, you know what. After the many clean ups I got fed up and went out to the workshop and whipped up this stool in no time with some scraps I had laying around and I tell you, it made a world of difference. Now, with this shorter stool it puts him at just the right height which really cuts down on the mess! If your constantly cleaning up after your little boy, below is some simple toddler bathroom step plans that will change your life.
Required Tools

Step 1: Just a Little Bit or Just a Little Bit More
After you’ve cut your wood you need to decide how big of a step your little one really needs. For a boy that is using the bathroom standing up, you want them to be close to the height of the bowl while still making sure he can make it in there. Brayden is fairly tall for his age so he only needs about 3″ or, “just a little bit” (Step 2a), which uses the 2″ wood screws. If your child is on the shorter side or you have a higher toilet you might need a the 5″ version or “just a little bit more” (Step 2b), which uses the 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws.

Step 2a: Assembly – Just a Little Bit
This is fairly straight forward, leaving 3/4″ on the sides, align the 2x4x17″ boards side by side and screw the 2x4x10″ board to them as shown.

Step 2b: Assembly – Just a Little Bit More
First, drill three, evenly spaced pocket holes in the 2x4x10″ boards. Then, leaving 3/4″ on the sides, align the 2x4x17″ boards side by side and screw the 2x4x10″ board to them as shown, using 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws.
