Book Rack Console Table
A console table that holds books, what a great idea! I’ve been noticing a lot of these v-shaped book shelves lately and I really like the idea. Jamie decided that we needed one for the guest room, and well, you know how the rest of the story goes. I laid it out in CAD and got to work. The cool part about this table is it is super simple to build and I was able to do it for under $75! Enjoy the plans below!

- 3x 2 x 2 x 8′ (Select Pine; S4S)
- 3x 1 x 8 x 8′ (Common boards; Pine)
- Select pine is optional.
- 2-1/2″ Pocket Hole Screws (Coarse)
- 1-1/4″ Pocket Hole Screws (Coarse)
- 1-1/4″ Brad Nails
- 2″ Wood Screw

Thanks, I first stained it with Rust-Oleum’s worn navy stain, then made a white wash with Rust-Oleum linen white chalk paint and water, and put on using a stain rag.
Hello! This book rack is just what I have been looking for! I would love to put this in my kitchen to hold my cookbooks, but I was wondering if this book rack would be deep enough to hold them. In your picture, you have smaller books — do you think this book rack could accommodate larger books? My largest cookbook is about 8 1/2″ x 11″. If not, would it be pretty easy to modify these plans — maybe use 1x10s instead of 1x8s? Thanks for any help you can offer!
Tammie it will definitely hold larger books. We have large books in there now and it works perfectly.
Great design. I am going to build this over the Christmas break. Can you tell me what the height of the triangular pieces should be? I see the widths at 5-1/4 and 5-5/8 but no height.
Thanks Matthew and good luck. Those triangular pieces are cut at 45 degrees so the height is the same as the widths. Sorry I forgot to include that.

Thanks for the plans. Built in one night and finished painting today. I elected for a solid shelving piece for the top instead of two 1×8’s. I had to rip it down, but turned out nice without a groove on top, which is what she wanted. Rounded the edges. This my 3rd or 4th piece I’ve made from this site and can’t thank you enough for the simple cut lists. Cheers! https://uploads.disquscdn.c…
