Description
A modern bench from four boards
This is the bench I designed to be as simple as it looks: three 2x8s and a single 2×4, a handful of screws, and a day in the shop. The angled legs and floating slat seat give it a modern, architectural look, but every cut is either a straight crosscut or a 5° angle — nothing that needs a jig or a special tool.

- Dimensioned diagram for all 9 build steps

Tools you’ll need
A circular saw or miter saw, a drill/driver, a square, a tape measure, a level, and clamps. A miter saw makes the angled cuts faster and more repeatable, but it isn’t required.
