With new sofas in our living room we realized quickly that we were going to need a bigger coffee table. After looking at a bunch of different styles we settled on this fairly simple look with a tusked tenon. The best part about this project was that we could size it for exactly what we needed and we could build it for about $100!

This tutorial will walk you through how to build an oversized coffee table for about $100!
- Rough Cuts
- Glue Ups
- Cutting the Tenon
- Cutting Out Legs and Top
- Cutting Out Holes for Pins
- Fit Check / Finishing / Table Top Clips
We finish all the parts using a mixture of Minwax Pickled Oak and a touch of Varathane Briarsmoke to darken it up a bit.
- Final Assembly
Honestly, we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. It fits perfectly and the look and style is ideal for our living room. If you end up building one like it we would love to see a photo of it in the comments. Next project is a side table for between the sofas! Stay tuned.
